Restaurant RENO...SUCCESS!

Alright so most of you probably know by now but just incase here's my take on the newly renovated "downstairs Bison" ....it's now called

THE TAVERN

everythinghas been re-done....some of you may ask? wow really? didnt they just renovate that place? and the answer is yes, it did feel like it was still very new. But that's what good business people do. They keep people interested in their joint and comin back for more. If something isnt working, they change it.

so now we have The Tavern. completly new look and menu. I like to describe it as a upscale cozy place to spend a long time in. It can be great in many ways, you could come down from the hill and get a good spread of nachos, pizza and mac n' cheese (which by the way is DELICIOUS....you know how some mac n' cheese is just so blaaaaah unless it'd KD? well this has got a great zip to it so you wont be disapointed!) or you could get all dolled up with your girlies and go in for a quick bite and a few drinks cuz they got everything there....good wine/beer/cocktails...you name it. Or you can even grab your sweetheart and hang out in the cozy made for 2 people lil booths and enjoy sum nice steak and cheese fondue.

Can you appriciate the picture i'm trying to paint here people? It's an anytime, anyone, wear whatever you want and feel comfortable sorta place!

For Banff and winter happening right now it's perfect for the people that appriciate better food than just your everyday pub food. NOT that i dont enjoy a good plate of grease once in a while but i do like to put in an effort what i put into my body and i know that this being restaurant developed by people i know and used to work for i know that there is serious thought put into everything and i know they dont just buy crap food from anywhere therefore feeling better about myself eating and spending my money to people i know it matters too!

so please go check it out, the management knows how to treat ya and you wont be dissapointed! something for anyone!

ps. as i was having lunch there today, there was talk on how the menu upstairs (THE BISON) has changed as well and "it's sooooOoooOOOOo good" so i'm excited to grab my man or bff's and go check that out soon!

YUP! it's NYE soon and it's BANFF so helllooooooo shit's gonna go OFF! if you havent been here for a New years Eve then you have no idea. the streets are PACKED for the countdown. if you think you can drive thru, think again. It's Amazing, un describable. The only other time this has happened was when the olympics were on and Canada was in the final hockey game. why people were on the streets? not too sure...but they were!

3 days till XMAS? nope

So i don 't know about all you guys but HOLY SMOKES! ....IT IS XMAS IN 3 DAYS? that sh*t just aint right. A xmas spurt did hit me in november, when i took out my decorations and we put up xmas lights outside but after throwing a party @ the sasquatch for the food bank and being on this new buisness venture and then and then and then , i could go on but ONE thing is for sure i definatly have reflected on this year in the last couple days and here's wut i came up with:

in no particular order:

-facebook is taking over my life. i didnt realize this until i constantly get comments about how much i change it in a day...but then i worry people when i dont change it...litterally..i get a text on my phone that consists of : meesh..you doin ok? i havent seen an update in a few days...anything goin' on? haha it's silly

-and as cliche as it is, my boyfriend/family and friends are unbelieveable...i would be no where without the tight bunch in my life!

-Heads or Tail is pretty much the first and last thing i think of in the day. as sad as that sounds, i'm pretty into owning a business these days. Really excited for Feb/Mar when the clothing unfolds into the store. EEEP!

-i more than ever understand the value of a dollar and shopping locally.

-summers in banff blows. but i was ok with it this year cuz i was tied down to working in the basement and it seems as though i got way more traffic when it was crappy as opposed to when it was sunny.

-i still like to go out and party, but now i know my boundaries better. EHH OHHH!!!

there is more i want to write but i'm afraid it may get me into some trouble if certain authorities read this so i better not.

so ever since i got my iphone, i was pretty excited about it. but then there was nights working at The Devils Gap that my phone would freeze and then leaves me annoyed for 5 mins while i repeatedly press the power button on/off....but whenever i finally would get it to work i would forget how annoyed i was. But after a few weeks/months of having the phone i thought i should look into it incase down the road, the warranty ends i could have had it fixed.

So phone call 1 led me to man at apple that sent me an email on troubleshooting ideas and wut i could do: so i did them... the freezing continued

phone call #2: i was pretty much forced to pay $80 bucks for the "apple care protection" which means dick all to me, all it means is that i get to call a special number and talk to someone immediatly when i have any problems or questions. thanx guys. anyways...so i spend the $80 for the guy just to go over my phone, wut kind of case i have on my phone...waste of time.

the freezing continues.

and in this whole time it seems that the freezing is happening a little bit more and more, cuz now it's happenign at my house? wtf right?

SO NOW....being -12 and on in Banff these days i have REALLLLY realized that my phone freezes when it's cold. ok...dont get me wrong i GET that it's a super advanced phone but FML we live in canada, you would hope that there was SOMMMEEE sort of research for when it's cold? it's not that cold in my house that my f'in phone should freeze???? wut if i was being robbed and i needed to call 911 from my room? oh sorry i have to put my phone between my bum cheeks to warm it up for 5 mins before i can make a call. oh! Ooops! i'm dead. robbers found me.

so i call AGAIN....only to get this horrible horrible lady that made me feel like a complete REEETARD as she took me through the steps of restoring my phone. i almost cried.

seriously, you can't not afford to go to these spots. I checked out Giorgios last night first hand and for $20 i got a ceaser salad/steak dinner (ammmmazing)/and desert PLUS i spoiled myself and got a $25 bottle of riesling from Cave Spring!! i didnt drink it all , had a movie to go to, but in alberta you can take the bottle with you! it's GREAT! take advantage!! this only happens in the SLOW SEASON!

yup....COLD/FLU season

so i just am starting to come outta feelin' like sh*t since friday night....on tuesday oct 12 (my birthday) being the worst of the worst day) i'm finally back at work but now have developed a cough but at least i can swallow. i thought i'd share my story on how and what i did to get better:

first off...still super sorry to everyone who took off work on tuesday for my vegas bday party that i had to postpone. but ya for real , i couldnt swallow whole foods. i was on soup diet for 3 days i suppose. it sucked. i tried all day to tell myself that i could still party at night but then when it came time to get ready i started to ball my eyes out and realized , nope...this ain't gonna happen. that night i was border line going to the hospital i couldnt believe a person could feel so bad, i thought my throat was closing over.

anywho....just a heads up i firmly believe that the only thing that helped me get well was REST!!! i rested for 2 days straight...barely no talking and constant laying.

if only i knew that the only thing that would help would be REST i would have taken off work 3 days beforeeee my birthday.

here are some contributing factors that may have helped me get better before circuming to going to the doctor to take meds:

chicken noodle soup , added TONS of garlic and cayenne pepper and or/ tabassco sauce(couldnt eat the noodles though...just broth)

drank tons of tea...adding lemon and honey

drank lots of water

gargled with salt water (really wasn't that gross)

had an extremely hot shower

kept a heat pack on my throat at one point

so ya but number one thing is rest, dont push yourself cuz it ain't gonna help ya!! suck it up and miss a party / or work. you'll thank yourself in the end.

ok so, i've never voted and i know i should , but to be honest it just never interested me. BUT now as a store owner in Banff, i feel like i should do my part and try to get involved. i'll get there, slowly but surely. anywho...Banff's council vote is coming up and i've been dabling into the people running but there's one man that is standing out in front for me. His name is Stephen Allen. He and another lady Chip Olver were the only ones to come talk to me at the store. anywho, stephen caught my attention because he a) bought something from my store and b) wants a casino in town to help with town revenue. now i realize some people would say a casino would be a terrible idea but HAY we're already like a mini vegas with everyone thinking they can run aroudn the streets and be wild and wasted as it is...why not have a casino? if it'll help draw tourism, i'm in and i would definatly advertise there lol. jus' sayin...anyways that's all. i know it's not much to go on but like i said, slowly but surely.

ok so , checked out The Social Network last night...word of advice right off the bat, dont go with anyone that would rather watch an hi-energy kinda movie. they're adhd will kick in pronto and you will soon be paying attention to their squirming rather than the movie.

anywho, there's a part in the movie where justin timberlake playing sean parker says along the lines of..."this is huge for our generation or the big thing for our generation, or somethign like that" but ya it was like it clicked in my head too. although i knew that facebook was a huge deal, i realized it's a HUGE motha f'in deal! for someone to think of this idea , all the little aspects to it and how far it goes in depth and THEN be able to create it on a computer using code....it's incredible.

yes the movie can be slow at times but just be prepared like i was that watching this movie is more like watchign a documentary, but with little quips of humor every now and then. it basically dumbs down in a nutshell all this crazy internet stuff that's been happening since napster came about incase you didnt quite understand it all.

so maybe not worth going and sitting in an uncomfortable theatre for 2 hours but it's a definate must watch at home being cozy.....

i feel like i re learnt everything i already knew but in a new way , found out sum new stuff and am as cheesy and geeky as it sounds, i'm pretty stoked to be apart of such a huge thing for our generation. again, yes i realize it's just a internet site and it's addicting and it's really kinda ridiculous but as the movie refers to, people crave on knowing what everyone else is doing and how their doing it, it makes people in the world go round. something as little as a "relationship status" was actually a huge idea.

also i read an article in the new Vanity Fair about Sean Parker, it tells you the the back history of him and the little differences between the real him and the movie him. worth a read if your pretty interested in this stuff like i became, you can also catch the Lindsey Lohan interview as well in the same mag. jus' sayin.
