Accessorizeeee ur'self

With music festival season happening, spring bbq's, bicycle rides and strolls by the river about to explode on our town there's no reason to not look good doin it. And that doesnt mean you have to empty your wallets to get there. Trust me when i say Accessories are IMPORTANT! you can take an everyday shorts and tee outfit that you've owned for 3 seasons now and with a few necklaces, a hat, sunnies, bangles, or feather earrings it can turn that outfit into a head turner.

Here's some celebrity pics to show you what i mean:

And here's some instore items we have that can help you complete your own unique look this summer as well as help you shade yourself from the scorchers we are about to have :)

These hats you can pair with almost anything!! $30-$40

Feather earrings have exploded all over Banff and i think the cities are starting to catch on and wanna jump on board. you should too! $25-$30

Duh. Everyone needs a pair of sunnies. Ours are $20 or 2 for $30

Cut offs. So sick. you look good no matter what you wear with these. These are our version by One Teaspoon $58.. but you can easily make your own from an old pair of jeans and some sand paper and scissors! your welcome ;)

Summa Lovin' Happened So Fast

As some of you may or may not know, This is Heads or Tail's first summer of doing this style of clothing. It was a chance we were willing to take seeing how there really isnt much shopping unless you are a die hard Roxy or Billabong fan. We wanted to offer the ladies in town something different, something fresh and hip and unique. So we came up with a few list of companies we thought would go over well and here's 3 that are really doing well. We cant keep stuff in stock so if you do yourself a favor and follow our facebook page, you'll be the first to know when we have new stuff arriving to get first dibs !!

Up first we have One Teaspoon! It's an Austrailian based brand and has been a real hit in town with all our aussie friends.

Next we have BB Dakota, it's not a well known brand in Banff but it sure does get a lot of press in People's Style Watch and Cosmopolitan mags this year:

And prolly our most popular brand in the store right now is Pink Martini! this stuff i've had to re-order and it still sold out. it fits great, all size ranges and definatly stands out above the rest!

So i hope that kinda gives you the jist of the styles and looks we're goin for in the shop. We'll have new stuff coming monthly so dont be afraid to come check it out when your roamin' downtown!

Body Basics

So the first main thing you gotta do is what kinda body you have. This is a key thing to know when your dressing yourself and shopping, it'll help cut down time in the changing room when you know what items to just not even gooooo there with.

so here's some guidelines to help you:

HourGlass Figure:
now i know the picture is a lil extreme but i'm sure you get the point. here's your tips:

Your main style aims are......to emphasize your curves, especially your waist, without adding bulk:

Do wear...•Fitted and semi-fitted clothes
•Soft, clingy, flowing fabrics •Low to medium-low necklines
Dresses with defined waistlines •Straight and gently flared pants •Straight and gently flared shirts

Don't wear...•Stiff, bulky, fabrics •Baggy styles •High necklines (unless you have a small bust)
•Skirts with open pleats •Very tapered pants

Top Heavy:

Your main style aims are......to create the illusion of the perfect hourglass body shape by balancing your lower body to your upper body and to draw attention away from your upper body.

Do wear...•Flowing fabrics •Low to medium-low necklines •Set-in sleeves
•Three-quarter length sleeves •A good fitting, well adjusted bra
•Tops and dresses that flow through the waist •A-line skirts •Flared pants

Don't wear...•Stiff, bulky, fabrics •Styles that emphasize your shoulders
•High necklines •Big collars •Tapered skirts and pants

Pear Shaped:

Not the funnest shape thats for sure, but i've been blessed with it so for me i found what works best is really showin' on dem shoulders. so i buy top that are usually flowy but bare the skin up top. samesies goes for dresses. As for the bottom half, i sport the skinny jean these days, it was hard for me to go for it but i feel like if you "pear" it with a longer top (goes to about your mid-thiegh) and the right shoes/boots....it really hides the hip factor :) here's what other people said:

Your main style aims are......to balance your top half to your bottom half by creating the appearance of a wider upper body.

Do wear...•Accessories and designs to draw attention to your upper body •Short-sleeved tops •Medium to high necklines •Garments to emphasize your waist •Skirts and dresses that are straight or slightly flared •Low rise pants to avoid gaping at the waist •Boot leg and straight pants

Don't wear...•Baggy garments •Stiff fabric •Garments that add bulk to your hips •Hems or design lines at hip-line •Open pleats on skirts or pants •Tapered skirts or pants

Rectangle/Boy Shaped:

Your pretty lucky cuz most people i see can pretty much getaway with anythign their hearts desire. it's annoying. damn you skinny girls , jk you look gooood. anywho...reading up on it, these were some things that were noted. whether i believe them or not is up to me, i'm not a fashion expert. so obey them if you choose but i will not judge you if you do :)

Your main style aims are......to add curves by:
•Defining your shoulders •Or, if you are slender, by defining your waist

Do wear...•Semi-fitted clothes •If you have firm upper arms, short-sleeves and sleeve-less tops and dresses •Medium to high necklines •Dresses that wrap or flow through the waistline •Straight to gently flared flat-fronted pants •A-line shirts

Don't wear...•Clingy fabrics•Low necklines •Baggy pants •Narrow skirts

Diamond Shape:

Your main style aims are......to to create the illusion of a longer, inverted triangle body shape. And to draw attention upwards towards your shoulders and face.

Do wear...•Earrings, necklaces and other focal points designed to draw an observer's eyes up towards your shoulders and face •Semi-fitted and loose fitting clothes •Good fitting, well adjusted bras •Support underwear
•Low necklines •Un-tucked tops
•Tops and dresses that flow through the waistline •Straight flat-fronted pants in soft, flowing fabric •Straight and slightly flared skirts

Don't wear...•Clingy fabrics •Fitted clothes •Fabric with large patterns •High necklines •Large lapels •Belts or Tucked-in tops •Pleats •Narrow or tapered skirts •Narrow or tapered pants

so i hope this helps a bit, and then when you come into Heads or Tail or any other store you may be shopping in. you can remember these key things to help you find that perfect item in half the time!

i did have help putting this together though, i found some information off this site: check it out if you need more tips about your body ;) http://www.style-makeover-hq.com/
